SUNRISE (CBSMiami) – The City of Sunrise Police Department is going high-tech.

The department is adding QR codes to its patrol vehicles in order to take advantage of mobile technology. These QR codes will send smartphone users to the department’s Facebook page.

Once there, mobile users can see updates about upcoming police activities in the community. Of course, the smartphone user will need to download a QR code scanner app to be able to see the image.

The goal for the use of the QR codes is to make sure that everyone in the community is aware of what services are available to them.

Once the QR code is scanned, users can see the location of the police department. This provides an address and a map, how they can reach the department when they need to, and how to obtain crime prevention information to help in safety efforts.
