Broward To Tackle Provisional Ballots

LAUDERHILL (CBSMiami) – Broward County election department workers will tackle provisional ballots on Thursday as they move toward closing out the November General Election.

Broward County's canvassing board is expected to meet Thursday afternoon.

Some voters in the county are still annoyed that they had to stand in long lines and then face delays in scanning their ballots because their precinct only had one ballot scanning machine. They say it was just a lack of planning by the elections department.

Broward County Supervisor of Elections Dr. Brenda Snipe defended her department's actions and said predicting turnout from precinct to precinct is difficult.

"Each election is different. You put your plans in place and still there are abnormalities that you may not have been, may have not predicted for," said Snipes.

Snipes added that the length of the ballot also contributed to the delays.
