Miami Man "Extremely Critical" After Hit & Run Crash

MIAMI (CBSMiami) – Police are asking for the public's help in finding a driver who left a person for dead by the side of the road after slamming into his dirt bike.

It happened Saturday just before 7:30 p.m. at Northwest 12th Avenue and 67th Street.

According to investigators, a male on a blue 2004 Yamaha (all-terrain vehicle) was headed south when he was struck at the intersection, possibly by a white Dodge Durango, headed in the eastbound direction.

On impact the male was thrown from his dirt bike and left almost lifeless on the side of the road as the driver of the Dodge Durango fled from the scene, without attempting to stop and render aid.

The injured victim was transported to Jackson Memorial Hospital's Ryder Trauma Unit with extensive head injuries. He has undergone surgery and remains listed in extremely critical condition.
