FIU Ends Losing Streak Against South Alabama

MOBILE, Ala. (AP) — Jake Medlock threw two touchdowns and ran for another as Florida International snapped a seven-game losing streak, beating South Alabama 28-20 Saturday in a Sun Belt Conference showdown.

South Alabama (2-7, 1-4) got on the board first when T.J. Glover scored from 15 yards out. But South Alabama would not see the lead again, as FIU rattled off 28-straight points to take a 28-7 advantage into halftime.

Medlock threw touchdowns of 26 and 27 yards and ran one in from 19 yards during the run. Kedrick Rhodes' 2-yard touchdown capped the scoring burst.

South Alabama scored 13 unanswered points in the second half but Ross Metheny's second interception of the day ended the Jaguars' final possession.

Ross led the Jaguars with 270 yards through the air and added 56 on the ground.

South Alabama outgained FIU (2-8, 1-5) 458-334 but scored a touchdown on just 1 of 4 red-zone attempts.
