Two People Shot At Coral Springs Apartment Complex

CORAL SPRINGS (CBS4) - Two people were rushed to North Broward Medical Center Friday night with what were described by police as "life threatening" injuries after each being shot in the chest.

At least one neighbor has told Coral Springs Police that the shooter was either the estranged or ex-husband of the female victim. A little boy who neighbors say was taken away by police may have been with the victims' when the shooting happened.

Police spokesman, Sgt. Brad McKeone, says a call came in from Barrington Club at the corner of Sample Road and Coral Springs Drive about 8:20 p.m. about a disturbance.

McKeone told CBS4's Peter D'Oench that police responded quickly to the scene. He said the wounded female victim came out of the apartment first. She was followed by the wounded male victim.

He said shortly after that, he said the gunman came out of the apartment and surrendered.

Police say he used a handgun and at least one neighbor confirmed that he was the gunman.

"This appeared to be a domestic incident," said McKeone. So far neither the man arrested nor the victims have been identified.

Police told D'Oench it was the first shooting ever at Barrington Club.

It's believed both victims were shot once each in the chest.

"I heard the shots and then I heard some screaming," said neighbor and witness Tiffany Francis. "I was pretty sure the screaming came from the wife."

"It's sad hearing about this," she said. "It is sad hearing that this may have involved the mother and I heard crying. This is heart breaking. It is heart breaking to hear about a family being torn apart."

"The little boy looked like he was about 4 years old," she said. "And that is so sad."
