Sweetwater IDs Officer Killed In Motorcycle Crash
MIRAMAR (CBSMiami) – A deadly accident on I-75 in north Miami-Dade has claimed the life of a police officer.
Officer Bryan Marrero, 23, was heading southbound on the highway when he lost control of his motorcycle between Miami Gardens Drive and NW 138th Street after drifting into the emergency lane, according to Sweetwater spokeswoman Michelle Hammontree-Garcia.
Marrero's motorcycle plummeted into the median then back into the emergency lane where he slammed into the guard rail. The officer, who was thrown from the bike on impact, was pronounced dead on the scene.
Marrero was in his second at the department. At the time of the accident, he was off duty and riding his personal motorcycle.
Wind conditions may played a part in the accident which is under investigation by the Florida Highway Patrol.
