Marlins Interview Mike Redmond For Manager Job

MIAMI (CBSMiami) – The Miami Marlins wasted no time beginning their search for a new manager by interviewing Mike Redmond on Wednesday.

Redmond managed the Toronto Blue Jays' Single-A team this season. He's a familiar face for the team as he played for the Marlins for several seasons.

As a member of the Marlins, Redmond hit .287 with 13 home runs in 2,264 at-bats. MLB.com's Joe Frisaro said Redmond is a "strong frontrunner" for the job.

The South Florida Sun-Sentinel reported San Diego Padres special assistant Brad Ausmus is a "serious candidate" as well, but Redmond is at the top of the list. Frisaro said Reds pitching coach Bryan Price is another name to keep in mind for the Marlins managerial job.
