Wade Not Playing In Preseason Game Tuesday

MIAMI (CBSMiami) – Miami Heat superstar Dwyane Wade will not play in the team's preseason game against the Charlotte Bobcats Tuesday night, but his absence had been planned as part of his rehab progress.

The Heat will play the Bobcats, the worst team in the NBA last season, Tuesday. Wade did participate in the team's shootaround in the morning, according to CBS4 news partner the Miami Herald.

Wade plans on playing Wednesday night when the Heat travel to Kansas City's Sprint Center to play the Washington Wizards, according to the Herald.

Wade has been coming back from knee surgery over the summer, but has pushed himself into heavy preseason minutes. He led the team in minutes in Saturday's preseason victory over the Spurs. In 27 minutes, he scored 13 points, five assists, and pulled down two rebounds.

According to the Herald, the Heat will also rest Mario Chalmers, Udonis Haslem, and Joel Anthony against the Bobcats, but the trio could play in Wednesday's matchup with the Wizards.

The team will have Thursday off before coming home to the AmericanAirlines Arena for a game against the New Orleans Hornets to close out the preseason.

Miami opens the regular season at home against the Boston Celtics on October 30.
