MIAMI (CBSMiami) – A man who reportedly shot a woman during a robbery in Little Haiti has been taken into custody.

The woman, who was shot in the hand, was taken to Jackson Memorial Hospital she’s expected to be okay.

Investigators are still trying to determine the circumstances surrounding the shooting which happened around 2 a.m., but tell CBS4 News it happened in the area of NW 2nd Ave and 40th Street.

A perimeter was set up along NW 1st and 2nd Avenues between 49th and 51st Street.

The SWAT team searched the property of Shadow Lawn Elementary along NW 2nd Avenue, but the alleged gunman was located inside a house on 100 block of NW 51st Street.

Police have not released the man’s name or said what he’ll be charged with.
