Crews Discover Body Of Man In Garage Collapse Rubble

DORAL (CBS4) – Crews working in the rubble of a collapsed parking garage at Miami-Dade College West Campus discovered a body Monday afternoon.

The body was located deep within the rubble but due to the instability of the debris, along with serious safety concerns for the workers on site, it appears the physical removal of the body may take additional days.

Miami-Dade police have not confirmed that the body is that of Richard Budhoo; they will do that once an identity has been established by the Medical Examiner's Office.

"However, based on a totality of circumstances, investigators believe that the body is that of the aforementioned victim," according to a statement from police.

Budhoo's family has held a constant vigil at the construction site since the garage collapsed on Wednesday.

Budhoo leaves behind a wife, four children and five small grandchildren.

"My daughter wakes up at night crying for him. Everyone of them. Little kids. Little baby kids," Budhoo's daughter Shewana Accaiao said through tears.

Three other workers died in the collapse. Several others were injured.

The cause of the collapse remains under investigation.

Classes at Miami-Dade College's West Campus have been moved to alternate locations for the next several weeks.
