Man Suspected Of Trying To Rob Miramar Bank In Custody

MIRAMAR (CBSMiami) – Shoppers at Miramar shopping center were stunned Tuesday morning when police and FBI agents swarmed the parking lot and surrounding area in response to a bank robbery attempt.

It happened just after the Chase bank at 6860 Miramar Parkway opened for business at 9 a.m.

A man walked into the bank and reportedly handed the teller a note demanding cash.

Officers dispatched to the bank set up a perimeter around the area. Police spokeswoman Tania Rues said the would be robber got tired of waiting for the bank employee to hand over the money, so he left.   He was taken into custody as he was leaving the bank.

Police then had to clear the bank and interview each of the customers to make sure no one else was involved.
