Driver Crashes Into Wall Trying To Avoid Gunfire

POMPANO BEACH (CBSMiami) – The driver of a car in Pompano Beach crashed into a decorative trim wall in front of a home while trying to avoid gunfire.

It happened just before 1:30 a.m. in the 100 block of NE 35th Street. Several people were standing around a vehicle when they opened fire on a passing car, according to investigators with the Broward Sheriff's Office.

The driver of the car accelerated, lost control and hit the wall. The gunmen hopped in their vehicle and took off.

Neither the driver of the car or the passenger was hit by the flying lead. They both, however, sustained minor cuts and bruises from the crash.

The gunmen's car was found abandoned in Lauderhill.
