Firefighters Go Pink For A Cause

FT. LAUDERDALE (CBSMiami) – Ft. Lauderdale firefighters are going 'pink' to show their support of Breast Cancer Awareness month.

Throughout the month of October, firefighters are wearing pink uniform T-shirts in place of their traditional blue-and-white shirts.

The shirts were provided to the city at no cost by Firefighters Union Local 765.

"The eye-catching uniforms will help us raise awareness throughout the community about this tremendously important and worthwhile cause as we continue to work toward finding a cure," said Ft. Lauderdale Fire Chief Jeff Justinak.

But they're not the only municipal organization to sport pink this month.

Miami-Dade Police Department vehicles, waste management garbage truck, and a Metrobus have all been painted pink in an effort to raise awareness of breast cancer.

The Stephen P. Clark Center Lobby is also pink throughout the month of October.
