Marijuana Grow House To Be Demolished

MIAMI (CBSMiami) – A south Miami-Dade home deemed unsafe Sunday after an explosion the day before will be demolished on Monday.

Neighbors said the huge explosion on Saturday inside the home at 6355 SW 151st Place sent debris flying and people running out of the house. Investigators said the pressure of the explosion caused the roof to lift off, before coming back down.

When police and firefighters arrived that is when it was discovered the house was being used to grow marijuana with hydroponics.

"When the wind shifts in a certain direction, you can definitely smell it. Yesterday morning it was a much stronger chemical smell," said Orlando Martinez. "As the day went on it ended up being more of a marijuana smell and it was all over the place."

Investigators have not said what caused the explosion.

Police are still looking for the people who had been renting the home.
