Florida Loses Two Defenders Ahead Of Vols Game

GAINESVILLE (CBSMiami) – When Florida travels to Tennessee to play the Volunteers Saturday, they wil be doing it without two defensive players.

Florida Gators head coach Will Muschamp said Monday that linebacker Jelani Jenkins and cornerback Cody Riggs will both miss the Tennessee game.

According to Muschamp, Jenkins had surgery on his right thumb Monday after injuring it during the first series at Texas A&M. Jenkins spent most of the game against the Aggies in a cast and sling.

Riggs broke his right foot against the Aggies and could be out for up to four weeks. Riggs had been playing in nickel and dime packages for the defense.

Antonio Morrison will start at linebacker to replace Jenkins, while Jaylen Watkins will step in at cornerback.

Muschamp also said Monday that defensive end Ronald Powell had suffered a setback while recovering from a knee injury and will not play in the 2012 season.
