Another Credit Card Skimmer Found At S. Fla. Supermarket ATM

FORT LAUDERDALE (CBSMiami) – Police in Fort Lauderdale are investigating the discovery of another ATM skimmer at a South Florida Publix supermarket.

It's the third skimmer discovered in Broward County in recent days.

The most recent skimmer was found on the ATM machine at the Publix located at 3400 North Federal Highway in Fort Lauderdale. The police department has surveillance video of a suspect installing the skimmer on the machine.

Last week, police in Coral Springs said they believe an organized crime ring has been targeting ATMs outside of Publix supermarket stores after recovering skimming devices from two ATMs in their city.

One skimmer was found on a Publix ATM at 5950 Coral Ridge Drive and another at the Publix store at 8160 Wiles Road.

Investigators believe this is the same organized crime ring that has been targeting Publix ATMs across South Florida. If you have used any of those machines, police want you to check your bank account for any problems. If you notice anything call police. They also said it's a good idea to cover your hand with the other hand while putting your pin number into an ATM.
