CAMPAIGN 2012

FT. LAUDERDALE (CBSMiami) – Two days after portions of a four-story Broward courthouse garage came crashing down, the Broward Sheriff’s Office has released stunning new video of the incident as it happened.

The video comes from two different surveillance cameras pointed at the garage when it came down on Wednesday, Sept. 5th.

Structural engineers from the city and county continue to try and determine what caused the building to collapse during demolition.

The garage was being leveled as part of the $273 million courthouse construction project, which will stand 20 stories when complete.

Parts of the garage had already been removed before the collapse.

OSHA investigators are also involved with the case.

Two people were injured in the collapse. A security guard and construction worker suffered minor injuries from falling debris.

Geoff Bunnell the Senior Vice President for the construction company James A. Cummings Inc. said all the construction workers tearing down the garage were already outside the building.
