Miramar Wendy's Robbed, Police Working To Connect Similar Case

MIRAMAR (CBS4) - Miramar Police are looking for the two men who held up a Wendy's restaurant Tuesday morning as employees were prepping to open the store.

According to Miramar Police, the restaurant on Utopia Drive was robbed at gunpoint by the men around ten o'clock in the morning.

No one was seriously hurt, but one of the employees sustained minor injuries.

That was also the case in a similar robbery less than a mile away at Sam's West Indian store on University Drive. Surveillance video shows armed men walking in and roughing up the store owner.

Detectives believe a third suspect may have been waiting in the parking lot with the getaway car. Although the robberies were similar, police have not yet been able to determine if the two robberies are connected.

"It's really too early to say," said Miramar Police Public Information Officer Tania Rues. "We haven't ruled it out, but we can't just go by that physical description to say we have a heavier man and a thinner man. We have to go on more than that."

Tuesday evening, Miramar police were still waiting to get a copy of the surveillance video due to a technical difficulty with Wendy's security camera system.

Anyone with information about the suspects in either robbery is urged to call Broward Crime Stoppers at (954) 493-TIPS.
