Dolphins Awarded Wide Receiver Anthony Armstrong

MIAMI – Big moves on Saturday for the Miami Dolphins.

First they were awarded four players off waivers: wide receiver Anthony Armstrong, linebacker Sammy Brown, safety Troy Nolan and cornerback RJ Stanford.

The team also announced they have waived linebackers Jonathan Freeny and Josh Kaddu and terminated the contracts of safety Tyrone Culver and running back Steve Slaton.

Armstrong originally signed with the Dolphins as an undrafted college free agent from West Texas A&M on July 25, 2008 and spent the 2008 season on the teams practice squad. He was released by the team on August 29, 2009. He signed with the Washington Redskins on October 21, 2009 and was with the team until his release on August 31, 2012.

Brown was signed as an undrafted free agent by the St. Louis Rams on May 8, 2012. He played collegiately at the University of Houston and was released by the Rams on August 31, 2012.

Nolan, a fourth-year player from Arizona State spent his entire career with the Houston Texans after being drafted in the seventh round (223rd overall) of the 2009 NFL Draft. Nolan was released by the Texans on August 31, 2012.

Stanford was a seventh round selection of the Carolina Panthers (223rd overall) in the 2010 NFL Draft. He played collegiately at Utah and was released by the Panthers on August 31, 2012.
