Isaac's Parting Shot At Florida: Flight Cancellations

MIAMI (CBSMiami) —Tropical Storm Isaac fired a parting shot to South Florida before racing toward the northern Gulf Coast.

While more than 550 flights out of Miami International Airport were cancelled on Sunday, about another 158 flights were cancelled as of early Monday night. As for cancellations, 179 were reported.

The news was no better at Fort Lauderdale/Hollywood Airport.

The airport reported 160 cancellations Sunday, and at least 59 through 10 a.m. Monday morning.

All the bad news left travelers stranded and frustrated, but they also understand it was to be expected.

"It's nothing we can do, because of the weather. Everybody knew the storm was coming," said one traveler.

The usual airline advice still stands: before you make the trip to your airport, call first to be sure that flight is running on-time.
