No Power Outages In The Keys, Only Miami-Dade, Broward

ACROSS SOUTH FLA. (CBSMiami) — Thousands of South Floridians are without power due to Tropical Storm Isaac.

Here is a summary of power outages at 10:00 p.m.:

Miami-Dade County: Florida Power & Light reports 9,730 customers are without power.

Broward County:  6,255 people are without power.

Monroe County:  Keys Energy (Key West) and the Florida Keys Co-op (from the Dade/Monroe County line to the 7 mile bridge) reports that there were no power outages in Monroe County for most of Sunday but as of 10:00 p.m. Sunday evening, there are currently 1,400 Monroe County residents in the dark.

Florida Power and Light has activated its emergency response plan. They have 7,700 restoration workers plus 5,200 line and vegetation workers.

They have set up 12 staging sites across South Florida in order respond quickly when the power goes out.

FPL serves nearly 2 million customers combined in Broward and Miami-Dade Counties.

Remember to stay away from any downed electrical lines and assume every line is energized and dangerous. If you see a downed line, dial 911.
