Miami Beach Precautionary Boil Water Advisory Extended To Wednesday

MIAMI BEACH (CBSMiami) – Miami Beach road crews working to fix a water main break discovered the problem was three-fold.

The first break, a 20 inch water main, was found at the intersection of Purdy Avenue and 18th street near Dade Boulevard. While working to fix that break, crews discovered two additional breaks on a 6 inch and 8 inch line on the Venetian Islands. Workers were able to repair and restore water to customers affected by the 20 inch pipe break, but will work overnight to repair the others.

City officials believe the two smaller breaks were a result of the original, larger water main break. A precautionary boil water advisory for a small number of residents.

The precautionary boil water advisory has been issued to the following affected addresses:

  • 1701 Purdy Avenue
  • 1771  West Avenue
  • 1333 Dade Blvd
  • 1800 Alton Rd
  • 1828 Alton Road
  • 1840 Alton Road
  • 1850 Alton Road

CBS4's Michelle Gillen reported Sunday morning the precautionary boil water advisory will be in effect through Wednesday.

Crews expect the service to be restored by 6 p.m. Sunday evening.
