MIAMI (CBSMiami) — Good news for drivers: three of the biggest bottlenecks on Florida’s Turnpike in Miami-Dade and South Broward are about to be history.

The South Florida Sun-Sentinel reports we’ll have to earn it, though: drivers will have to put up with more than a year of construction until they see real relief.

Starting next week, work begins on installation of an overhead electronic toll gantry at the Golden Glades toll plaza in North Miami-Dade. The $29.9 million project also includes construction of a new off-ramp at the Hollywood interchange and widening to two lanes the ramp from the Homestead Extension in Miramar to the northbound turnpike.
