Fugitive Wanted In Weston Man's Murder On The Run

FT. LAUDERDALE (CBSMiami) – A South Florida fugitive wanted for questioning in the murder of a Weston man last March is on the run after barely giving members of a task force on his tail the slip.

The Broward Sheriff's Office said they were able to track Felipe Torrealba, 26, to a home in Lehigh Acres on the west coast. However, Torrealba left it just before members of the U.S. Marshals Florida Regional Task Force arrived last

Detectives believe Torrealba may be driving a rented, grey Mercedes C300 with a Texas tag of CD7 P374. They don't think he's alone either. His girlfriend, 22-year-old Dayana Garcia, and two children – a 5-year-old boy and a 4-month-old girl are reportedly traveling with him.

Detectives believe he may be selling drugs to make money. He should be considered armed and dangerous.

Torrealba is wanted for questioning in the murder of 42-year-old Kris Smalls who was reported missing March 18th. He was found dead in his SUV a week later in Weston.

Torrealba has a history of arrests and also has warrants for his arrest in Broward and Miami-Dade on unrelated charges.

Last January, Sweetwater Police officers shot at him as he fled after a traffic stop. Officers had stopped him for driving a stolen car that was driving erratically and discovered that he had warrants on narcotics and assault charges. Torrealba fled and was hit in the ear by an officer's bullet.

Anyone with information about Torrealba's whereabouts should dial 9-1-1, call BSO Homicide Det. Valerian Perez at (954) 321-4210 or report information anonymously to Crime Stoppers of Broward County at (866) 493-TIPS (8477).
