After Two-Year Closure, North Dade Middle Re-opens

MIAMI (CBSMiami) — After being closed for two years due to unsafe conditions, North Dade Middle School is re-opening to students Monday.

The school was closed two years ago due to unsafe conditions. The North Dade Campus encompasses North Dade Middle School and North Dade Center for Modern Languages Elementary School.

The new school is located at 1840 N.W. 157 Street in Miami Gardens.

New features include a two-story classroom building and an administration building for North Dade Middle School. It also includes a two-story classroom building for North Dade Center for Modern Languages.

A new cafeteria building with a "Food Shelter" will be shared by both the elementary and middle schools.

A physical education shelter and chiller plant were constructed as well as an entry plaza, parent and bus drop-off areas, covered walkways, parking lot expansion, and a new playground.

Hard courts were added for the elementary school and the middle school.

Renovations to the existing building included painting, locker room, air conditioning in the gymnasium, improvements to the auditorium and tennis court.

The new school was opened on time and within budget.
