FORT LAUDERDALE (CBS4) – A man was taken to the hospital after a chunk of the roof a Fort Lauderdale Beach’s Elbo Room collapsed Tuesday afternoon.

Fort Lauderdale Fire Rescue spokesperson Matt Little said the man was sitting at a picnic table on the patio of the bar, located at 241 S. Atlantic Boulevard, when a 4×4 section of the roof fell on him.

The man, in his 50s, suffered non-life threatening injuries, and was taken to the Broward Health to be checked out.

The section of patio below the roof was cordoned off, but the bar remains open.
