MIAMI (CBSMiami) – There are 253 million reasons why you might want to play the Powerball Lottery Saturday. The jackpot has swelled to $253 million dollars.

It’s not the largest Powerball jackpot but it is still quite large.

If a single winner matches all six numbers and he or she chooses the cash option, the payout will be approximately $170.5 million before taxes.

Folks in Florida and 41 other states will be vying for the prize and hoping lady luck will bring them the winning numbers.

The odds of winning any lottery prize is about 1 in 32, but the odds of winning the jackpot is about 1 in 175 million.

Powerball is played in 42 states, Washington, D.C., and the U.S. Virgin Islands.

If you’d rather try your luck at the Florida lottery, that jackpot now stands at $16 million.
