Police ID Shooting Victims In Palmetto Expressway Shutdown

MIAMI (CBS4) -  Police have released the names of three shooting victims who were frantically driven to a FHP officer on the Palmetto Expressway for help.

Michael Cordero, 32, Jasmine Smith 29, and Juan Salgado, 50, were all injured by gunfire that erupted at Northwest 57 Avenue and 167 Street while the Chevrolet Impala was stopped at a light.

The driver, Alexander Jiron, 30, began searching for a nearby hospital but spotted the FHP trooper making a traffic stop on the Palmetto Expressway.

The police spokesman said Jiron then approached the trooper's cruiser and said there were three people with gunshot wounds in the car.

Two males and a female were transported to Jackson Memorial Hospital. Police say they were in stable condition Friday night.

Police have not released any information on a possible suspect, only to say he or she is still on the loose.

Anyone with information regarding the shooting is urged to call Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at (305) 471-TIPS.
