Deputies Search For July 4th Shooting Suspect

DEERFIELD BEACH (CBSMiami) – A man shot while riding in a car on the Fourth of July has died from his injuries. Now the Broward Sheriff's Office have stepped up their efforts to find his killer.

Twenty year old Bevins Bennett was riding in a Kia Soul on I-95 when he was shot somewhere between Sunrise Boulevard and Sample Road. Sheriff's investigators said there were four people in the car at the time of the shooting.

The driver took the critically injured Bennett to the emergency room at Broward Health North in Deerfield Beach. While at the hospital the suspected shooter, 22-year old Antoinne Hester, took off on foot.

Investigators searching for Hester believe he is still in South Florida, most likely in Palm Beach County, where he lives.

Anyone with information on Hester's location is asked to contact BSO Homicide Detective Valerian Perez at 954-765-4321 or Broward Crime Stoppers, anonymously, at 954-493-TIPS (8477).
