Robert Reno Passed Away At Miami VA Medical Center

MIAMI (CBSMiami/AP) – Robert Reno, the brother of former U.S. Attorney General Janet Reno, has died at the age of 72.

Reno died Saturday at the Bruce W. Carter Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Miami of complications from Alzheimer's disease.


Reno worked at The Times-Picayune of New Orleans, La., and The Miami Herald before joining Newsday in 1968. His final column ran in 2003.

He was born Dec. 11, 1939, in Miami. He was a third-generation newspaperman, with parents who wrote for The Miami Herald and the Miami News and a grandfather who was photographer for the Herald.

Reno is survived by a daughter, his sisters and a brother.
