Something Extra: Reality TV Jinx?
MIAMI (CBS4) – Why would anyone want to get married on television?
I suspect very few people would want one of the most important personal moments of their lives displayed for the world to see, but the money being thrown at b-list celebrities to put their nuptials on air is clearly tough to resist.
New Miami Dolphin Chad Ochocinco married Miamian and former star of “Basketball Wives” Evelyn Lozada in St. Maartin yesterday. Their wedding will be featured on a new reality show, Ev and Ocho. I wish them the best, but reality show marriages seemed mostly jinxed.
Kim Kardashian and Kris Humphries lasted all of seventy two days. Maybe the millions she made were worth it.
Reality TV helped destroy Jessica Simpson and Nick Lachey’s marriage.
Carmen Electra and Dave Navarro’s came and went quickly too.
The exceptions are Khloe Kardashian and Lamar Odom and Gene Simmons and Shannon Tweed.
“The Bachelor” and “The Bachelorette” shows have a terrible match-making track record, but the two couples who married are still together. Maybe what saved them is that they didn’t have reality TV cameras following them after their much-hyped weddings.
A suggestion for TV couples: change your wedding vows to end with “until reality TV do us part.”
