Arrest Made In Pompano Beach Shooting
POMPANO BEACH (CBSMiami) – A man wanted in connection to a shooting in Pompano Beach is behind bars.
Around 11 a.m. Sunday, Broward Sheriff's detectives found 19-year old Scott Chery in unincorporated Lake Park in Palm Beach County.
The shooting happened Saturday evening, according to the sheriff's office, when a fight broke out among family members and friends who live in a home in the 200 block of SW 8th Street. A friend of Chery's lives at the house. During the argument, Chery reportedly pulled a gun and shot 26-year old Trentny Leak.
Leak was rushed to North Broward Medical Center where he's listed as serious.
Detectives say that minutes after the 5:40 p.m. shooting, Chery boarded a Tri-Rail train in Broward County and headed north. Together with Palm Beach Sheriff's investigators, BSO detectives were able to locate Chery at a 3562 Burma Circle.
Chery, who was out on bond for a home invasion robbery in August in Riviera Beach, has been charged with attempted murder.
