NMB Police Raid Two Gang Drug Houses, Make 5 Arrests

NORTH MIAMI BEACH (CBSMiami) – Five people were arrested and nearly 400 bags of crack cocaine were confiscated during a raid on two suspected drug houses in the Highland Village neighborhood of North Miami Beach, according to police.

Investigators said simultaneous search warrants were issued on the two homes, located at 2190 NE 135th Terrace and 13684 Highland Drive on Friday evening.

Those inside the Highland Drive home are known gang members and allegedly tied to the Latin Kings gang. Police also said surveillance cameras on one home were used to monitor the approach of drug buyers and police.

Inside the home on NE 135th Terrace, police found 399 baggies of crack cocaine, small amounts of marijuana and some cash.

One suspect who tried to escape was bitten by a police dog and another had an IRS tax check worth more than $14,000 obtained through tax fraud and identity theft, said police.

Two female runaways were also found in one of the homes and returned to their family by police.

Those arrested face various charges involving trafficking in Cocaine, Possession of Cocaine, Possession of Marijuana and Criminal Use of Personal Identification.

The suspect bitten by the police dog was also charged with Battery on a A Law Enforcement Officer and Resisting Arrest with Violence.
