MDPD Officer Accused Of Lying To Obtain Prescription Meds

MIAMI (CBS4) - A 20 year veteran of the Miami-Dade Police department was arrested by his colleagues after investigators say he lied to a doctor to fraudulently obtain a prescription.

Mark Rodriguez, 41, has been charged with 43 counts of Withholding Information from a Practitioner in Order to Obtain a Controlled Substance or a Prescription for a Controlled Substance of Like Therapeutic Use within Thirty Days of a Previous Prescription and one count of Organized Scheme to Defraud.

Authorities began investigating Rodriguez in December 2011 and secured warrant for his arrest this month.
