Elderly Pedestrian Hit By Truck On Hialeah Street

HIALEAH (CBS4) - Doctors were forced to amputate an elderly man's leg after she was struck by a pickup truck while standing on a Hialeah street.

Hialeah spokesperson Eddy Rodriguez said there was some sort of crash between a truck and an SUV at the intersection of W. 49th Street and 18th Court. At some point the truck careened into the man, 70, and pinned him against a pole.

The impact was so great that has leg had to be amputated. He is reportedly in critical condition at Jackson Memorial Hospital.

Police say the driver of the truck was arrested and the driver of the SUV stayed on the scene.

The identity of the victim and the drivers have not been released.
