Two Bodies Found In West Miami-Dade Marsh

WEST MIAMI-DADE (CBS4) -Miami-Dade Police Homicide detectives are investigating after two bodies were found in the marshes of West Miami-Dade.

Police began their search in the area near NW 133 Ave. and NW 25 St. Monday afternoon after receiving a tip from family members looking for their missing loved ones.

It wasn't immediately clear Monday evening if the two bodies found were those of the two people originally reported missing.

"This is of course very early in the investigation," Police Spokesman Roy Rutland said Monday. "We are not even making the connection between the missing person's case and the recovery today."

Rutland said police divers were called in to recover at least one of the bodies which was found in a few feet of water off NW 25 St.

Family members of the two people reported missing gathered at the crime scene, hoping for the best. As of Monday afternoon, it had not been confirmed if their relatives were the people found dead.

The identities of the deceased have not been released.

The cause of death is still under investigation.
