"Drive-Thru" Banking Gets New Meaning In Oakland Park

OAKLAND PARK (CBSMiami) - Bankers like to talk about how easy it is to bank with them, but there are limits, especially when it comes to drive-through banking. Most bankers prefer you use the lanes set up for that. One driver in Oakland Park failed to get the message.

It happened shortly after the Bank of America branch on Prospect Road opened for business Saturday morning. A manager had called out sick for the day, and was not using the office assigned at the branch.

That's a good thing, because somehow, and police still are not certain just how, a jeep SUV driven by 57 year old Henryka Arciszewska of Lauderdale Lakes ended up through the wall of the branch and inside the manager4's office.

People at the scene said nobody appeared to be hurt, even though the bank was open at the time of the crash and people were startled by the sound.

Police said there were no witnesses, and Arciszewska told the South Florida Sun Sentinel that she had intended to go to a drugstore but somehow she ended up at the bank.

If you'd planned to do business at that branch Saturday, don't make the trip. The damage forced bank officials to close the branch for repairs.
