Marlins' Bonfiacio Out 4-6 Weeks

MIAMI (CBSMiami) – The Miami Marlins will be without one of their most dangerous weapons on the basepath for at least a month.

According to the Miami Herald, Emilio Bonifacio will have surgery on his injured thumb and miss the next 4-6 weeks of action. Bonifacio was originally placed on the 15-day disabled list, but will now be out until July.

The Marlins are losing outfielders at an alarming rate. Besides Bonifacio, the Marlins also placed outfielder Austin Kearns on the disabled list due to a strained hamstring.

Before the injury, Bonifacio was leading the majors in stolen bases with 20 out of 21 attempts, despite only hitting .268 on the season.
