Police Link Double Shooting In Fort Lauderdale

MIAMI (CBSMiami) – A man found bleeding in the doorway of a Ft. Lauderdale Dunkin Donuts from a gunshot wound remains hospitalized.

Police were called to the Dunkin Donuts, in the 1400 block West Broward Boulevard, around 8:30 p.m. Monday night after receiving word that a man had been shot.

Arriving officers found Jonathan Carter, 19, bleeding from a gunshot wound in his leg. The also noticed a black vehicle speeding way.

When police pulled the car over blocks away they found Wayne McCoy, 23, who had been shot in the abdomen.

After taking witness statements and reviewing evidence, investigators believe both Carter and McCoy were shot in the 1400 block of NW 1st Street. After the shooting, Carter ran to the Dunkin Donuts and McCoy ran back to the vehicle not realizing that he had been shot.

Both Carter and McCoy were transported to Broward General Medical Center and are currently listed as stable.

Detectives are currently investigating the motives behind the shooting.
