Brother Of Vontae Davis Charged With First-Degree Murder

WASHINGTON (CBSMiami) – The brother of Miami Dolphins cornerback Vontae Davis and San Francisco 49ers tight end Vernon Davis has been charged with murder for the death of Denver tourist in Washington, D.C.

According to the Washington Examiner, Michael Davis, 19, faces a charge of first-degree murder for the killing of Gary Dederichs, 66. Washington police originally found Dederichs suffering from a blow to the head on April 24. He was later pronounced dead.

Davis was already in jail for allegedly attacking a woman with a hammer. Police said Davis was caught after the teenage girl was attacked and police chased down Davis. During the chase, Davis allegedly threw away a backpack that contained a claw hammer.

DC Police were investigating similar attacks at the time they arrested Davis, but couldn't confirm the attack was related to the others.

Vernon Davis tweeted at the time of the first arrest that he got a "disturbing call" from Washington.

"Just got a disturbing call from back home in Washington, DC," Davis wrote in his tweet. "A good day gone bad! Hopefully he wasn't involved!"
