Border Patrol, Coast Guard Intercept Illegals Off Palm Beach

PALM BEACH (CBSMiami) – More than a dozen people who may have been trying to sneak into the U.S. illegally are now being detained by the U.S Customs and Border protection agency.

The 15 adults were intercepted by Customs and Border protection agents and the Coast Guard on Saturday night about 30 miles off the coast of West Palm Beach, according to the Palm Beach Post.

Customs agents boarded the 25-foot cabin cruiser and took the detainees in custody on suspicion of violation of immigration laws. They were then placed on a Coast Guard.

Neither agency has confirmed the nationality of those being detained. Their boat was towed to the Coast Guard station in Riviera Beach.

The Palm Beach Post contributed to this report.
