MIAMI (CBSMiami/AP) – A rally Tuesday at Miami’s Bayfront Park, organized by Occupy Miami and other community organizers, will be one of many May Day protests held across the country.
Organizers say it’s the flagship Occupy Miami event planned for the year. They’re encouraging supporters to skip out on work, class and other obligations.
During the rally, participants will talk about the “epidemic of illegal foreclosures in South Florida, the pernicious effects of corporate money in Washington, and the United States’ ever-widening wealth discrepancy,” according to a release from the group.
Other activist groups taking part in the rally include S.T.A.N.D. MDC, Occupy FIU, Taxi Workers, Miami Workers Center, Autonomous Playhouse and Students Working for Equal Rights.
