Ocean Drive Magazine Honors "Real Miami Beauties" In Upcoming Issue
MIAMI BEACH (CBS4) - Behind the scenes at a recent fashion shoot for Ocean Drive Magazine, was a typical shoot atmosphere with makeup, wardrobe and models. But the ladies aren't the usual cover girls, they are what the magazine is calling "Real Miami Beauties," and they'll be featured in an upcoming issue.
"This feature story is all about real Miami beauties. These are accomplished real women who everybody sees and knows. They are socially active, they are philanthropically active and they have amazing careers, They are beautiful women and why not celebrate that?" said Suzy Buckley, Editor-in-Chief of Ocean Drive Magazine.
Jenna Green actually looks like a fashion model, but as director of development for "Project Medishare", an organization founded by her father Dr. Barth Green, which brings healthcare to the impoverished people of Haiti.
Green says her real life is anything but glamorous.
"It's not what I normally do," said Green. "In Haiti, its not very glamorous. We're usually covered in dirt so getting hair, makeup and styled was a lot of fun for an afternoon."
Fashion photographer Gabor Jurina worked with Jenna and the other models for a full day shoot at the very photo friendly Mondrian Hotel South Beach.
"Each woman symbolizes their own beauty and their taste so we're not trying to make them someone they're not. We want to bring out their own personalities," said Jurina.
Susie Wahab is a wife, mother, and philanthropist and donates her time to helping the blind. Suzy said before she decided to say yes to the shoot she had to know one thing .
"I needed to know the other women on the list! When they sent me the list, I loved the list and that's why I'm here," said Wahab.
The other women on the list include: Cathy Leff, Director of the Wolfsonian Museum; Kimani Roquemore, Membership Director of the Soho Beach House; Sara Colombo, Owner of NEST, a home accessories store on Lincoln Road; and Jessica Goldman, co-owner of Goldman Properties
"We were thinking of accomplished women in town who we've seen socially - who had great style. " said Buckely
The "Real Miami Beauties" issue of Ocean Drive Magazine is on stands May 1.
