Dade To Offer Free Spay/Neuter Surgeries This Weekend

MIAMI (CBSMiami) – Miami-Dade residents who have a puppy or kitty but can't afford to get them 'fixed' will be able to do so this weekend for free.

This Sunday the county's Animal Services Department, in partnership with the Cat Network, will offer free spay and neuter surgeries for cats and dogs. The procedures will be performed at Commissioner Rebeca Sosa's office, 1000 SW 57th Avenue, beginning at 8 a.m.

"Many cats and dogs of all ages and breeds are euthanized annually or suffer as strays. Many of these are the result of unwanted, unplanned litters that could have been prevented by spaying or neutering," said Sosa.

Those interested should note that appointments are required and can be made by calling 3-1-1. The free spaying or neutering service is available to all Miami-Dade County residents.
