School Bus Wallops Miami House, 4 Hurt

MIAMI (CBSMiami) - Four people were slightly hurt when a Miami-Dade School bus with students aboard slammed into the side of a house, smashing through a porch and into the building.

The bus was carrying students from Edison Park Elementary School.  There were two students and two adults onboard the bus at the time of the crash.   There were several people in the house, but no one was hurt.

"I'm blessed to be alive because I could have been still in that room," said Dominique McDuffie, who lives in the home.

The accident happened at 2100 NW 47th street. From Chopper 4 the bus could be seen with emergency doors open, fully in the front yard of the home, its nose embedded into the side of the house.

McDuffie said her the room was her granddaughters, and she had just left the house moments before the crash.

The damage to the house appears extensive, but thankfully everyone who was in the home was in a back room.

Initial reports indicate a SUV ran a stop sign and crashed into the bus which then crashed through a fence and into the house.  After the accident, the driver of the SUV reportedly ran off.
