Haitian Pres. In S. Florida For Surgery

MIAMI (CBSMiami) – Haitian President Michel Martelly has undergone arthroscopic surgery on his right shoulder in Miami and will spend the next few days in South Florida recovering.

The president's office made the announcement Friday morning saying the operation was a success and that Martelly will be in the hospital for a couple of days.

Martelly left Haiti Wednesday for the operation, but the president's office didn't reveal the details about the trip until Friday morning.

It's the second operation on his shoulders in recent months. Doctors operated on Martelly's left shoulder in November to relieve pain he said he had from his career as a musician.

Martelly will return to Haiti next week and will host a visit by Mexican president Felipe Calderon.
