MIAMI LAKES (CBSMiami) – A multi-vehicle accident in Miami Lakes Wednesday morning left one person dead and another person hospitalized in critical condition.

According to traffic homicide investigators, Antoinette Bacon, 21, was driving a silver Nissan Altima with the father of their one-year-old child, Tyrell Frazier, 25, along NW 57th Court and Miami Lakes Drive.

While trying to pass the Jeep, Bacon’s Nissan Altima slammed into a Miami-Dade Transit Bus traveling east bound and then clipped the Jeep Cherokee.

The Nissan was demolished on impact.

Frazier, who was riding in the front seat, died on the scene from injuries suffered during the crash.

A Coast Guard member who witnessed the accident pulled Frazier from the car after he stopped breathing.

Betsabeth Casto, a passenger in the Cherokee, said Frazier “took one last breath,” and the good Samaritan laid him out on the pavement and administered CPR to no avail.

The female driver was trapped in the vehicle until fire rescue crews could cut her out of the car using the jaws of life. She was airlifted to Jackson Memorial Hospital’s Ryder Trauma Center in critical condition.

No on one the bus was injured.

Frazier’s father told CBS4’s Gary Nelson that his son was a, “good soul working to support his family.”

Frazier’s uncle, Kendrick McKinney, said Frazier had recently landed a warehouse job and was “trying to lift himself up.”

“Bad things happen to good people,” McKinney said.
