Injured Man Found In Backyard Of Burning Home

MIAMI (CBSMiami) – A raging fire severely damaged a Miami home early Thursday morning.

According to Miami Fire officials, around 4:30 a.m. they received a call about a fire in a home in the 5100 block of SW 6th Street. Arriving fire crews found smoke billowing from the windows and flames shooting through the roof.

"I was definitely scared because there was a possibility it would catch and get to my house at some point," said neighbor Alex Quintana.

"It came close, I'm telling you," said Joe Leon who lives next door to the home which burned. "Those flames were like, were say 50 feet up in the air."

In the backyard of the home firefighters found an injured man who neighbors said lived in the home.

"No one knew much about him," said Chris Myers, "He kind of kept to himself."

The man was taken to the Ryder Trauma Center where he's listed as stable. Fire officials did not say how the man was injured or what type of injuries he sustained.

As firefighters battled the flames, the intensity of the heat and flames caused the roof to collapse.
Investigators are now going through the burned out remains of the residence trying to determine how the fire started.
