FORT MYERS (CBSMiami/AP) – A pistol packin’ granny was hospitalized in Fort Myers after getting into a shoot out with sheriff’s deputies.

The Lee County Sheriff’s Office said the deputies had gone 71-year old Patricia Mapes’s home Friday night to perform a well-being check.

The sheriff’s office says the woman and deputies exchanged fire.

The woman was injured and taken to a hospital, but no deputies were injured.

The sheriff’s office is investigating the shooting.
