St. Pete Teen Shot By 9-Year Old Cousin

ST. PETERSBURG (CBSMiami/AP) - A St. Petersburg teen is hospitalized after being accidentally shot by his 9-year-old cousin.

Anas Jaber, 16, initially told police that he was the victim of a drive-by shooting Saturday afternoon. Later he reportedly admitted that he was playing video games when his cousin pointed a gun at him. The younger boy had found the gun in the house.

Jaber reportedly told police when he told his cousin to put the gun down it went off.  He was shot through the neck and left hand.

According to police, Jaber said he initially lied to officers to protect his cousin.

No charges have been filed.

Police spokesman Mike Puetz says officers recovered two rifles from the residence.
